About Tom
Tom was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1961 after graduating from the University of Queensland in the same year with the degree of Bachelor of Laws. He was subsequently admitted as a Solicitor of the High Court of Australia.
In 1963, he entered into Partnership in the Firm of M.G Lyons & Co where he remained until 1982 when he became a Partner in the firm of Walsh Fitzgerald and Halligan, later to become Walsh Halligan Douglas. For more on the history of the firm, see Our history.
Since being admitted, Tom has practised extensively in the areas of Property Law, Securities and Succession Law. Tom has had wide experience in all aspects of property matters from the purchase, leasing and selling of CBD buildings to home units and industrial buildings. In addition, he has acted in numerous mortgage transactions over many years having acted for a number of large insurance companies on a regular basis. Over the same period he has regularly prepared securities for a number of friendly and co-operative societies.
As well as the above, he has practised extensively in Wills and Estates.
He is a Notary Public and has served as President of the Queensland Society of Notaries Inc.
